HC3 church, bury st edmunds, quiz nightThe Quiz Night and Fund Raiser was held at Horringer Court Middle School on the evening of Saturday 21 January.

Previous quiz nights have proved to be very popular especially if they are not taken too seriously and this was no exception, although you do find a few who are naturally competitive. Thankfully this one was just as popular with the 69 folks who attended.

Being well supported, it was indeed nice to see friends and neighbours invited along who certainly got involved with the proceedings and joined in the fun.

As Quizmaster’ my hands were quite full so I enlisted the help of three ‘beautiful assistants’, namely Haley, Clare and David Young. David helped by being the adjudicator and keeping score whilst Hayley and Clare were dodging between tables in between rounds distributing and collecting answer sheets. For those who were not able to attend and who enjoy quiz nights the categories were General Knowledge, Geography, Sports, a Picture round which was played during the ploughman’s supper, Entertainment, Science and Nature, History of Suffolk and Famous People.

The funds raised were to boost the coffers for the Community Hub and indeed it swelled the pot by £756.00. This total was also helped with monies from a raffle which was ably run by Nick and Clare Burman, so thank you to all those who donated prizes.

The delicious supper and refreshments were organised and supervised by Sue Eastwood and her team of willing volunteers, so a big thanks to them and thanks also to those who helped to tidy up after the event. Yet again it was the generosity of HC3 that was evident and a good witness to the guests.

It is hoped, after asking those in attendance, that another such night be organised maybe for late autumn and raising funds for another good cause. I’ll keep you posted.
