On a cold and frosty morning a few hardy souls (12 in all) from HC3 gathered outside the shops on the Horringer Court estate to sing carols to the shop staff and the shoppers as they went about their busy Saturday, this being 16th December (9 more sleeps before Christmas day).

The temperature was still registering -2C as we set up at 0915 with Pastor Stephen on keyboard, Associate Pastor Bernard on guitar accompanied by Nick Burman also on guitar.

Scrolls were handed out to the shoppers as they came by which contained a seasonal word from our Pastor plus the programme of events at HC3 over this Christmas period.

Halfway through we were treated to tea, coffee, mince pies and biscuits from the Santa clad ladies of the newsagents, a very generous gesture and most welcome on such a cold morning.

Traditional carols were sung with a couple of “newish” ones added by Pastor Stephen whose fingers were feeling the cold from the almost frozen keyboard, as were those of our stalwart guitar players.

Although we could have stayed and sung more carols for longer than a little over the hour that we did, I think the result would have seen us being prised off the pavement. Having said that, I think we did justice to honour the birth of our dear Lord in spite of the cold.
