Safeguarding children and young people is a priority to us.
We are committed to making sure every child who joins us is safe and therefore we follow the government and CCPAS guidelines on child protection and good working practice including safe recruitment of workers.
We recognise that we have particular responsibilities to safeguard children and other vulnerable people with whom we have contact. We maintain specific policies and guidelines for working with children and vulnerable adults (copies of which may be obtained from the church office). But we also wish to affirm, support and protect everyone who is connected with the church in any way, both adults and children.
If you have any concerns regarding the safety or welfare of a child you can speak to our child protection co-ordinator, Hayley Sykes, who can be contacted via the church office.
General Safeguarding Policy
We affirm that every person is created in the image of God and therefore must be treated with appropriate respect and dignity regardless of their age, race, gender, ethnicity, ability, sexuality, beliefs or cultural background.
In addition we will always endeavour to protect every individual from physical harm and from any form of abuse, harassment, prejudice, hatred, insult, vilification, humiliation or any other mistreatment as we seek to serve the local community.
We have a God-given responsibility to proclaim and explain the Christian Gospel to all who will listen. We also believe that we have a responsibility to challenge attitudes, actions, beliefs, behaviours and lifestyles that do not conform to the standards of holiness revealed in the Bible as being God’s will for us. We will always do this with gentleness and respect, recognising every individual’s right to freedom of choice and of opinion.
